Overseeing the Voting During the Coming Local Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina

As was the case in the presidential election in 2018, the Platform for Progress will have representatives on many of the election boards that are being assembled to oversee the voting process at the voting precincts across the country on election day.  However, the inherent corruption that exists as part of that process is rearing its ugly head once again.  When Mirsad Hadzikadić, the president of the Platform, and I spoke here in Charlotte, North Carolina, he discussed how his team is navigating its way through the process as the local elections are now scheduled for November 15.  He also took the time to discuss how the political climate both in Montenegro and Belarus is having a direct influence on Bosnia and Herzegovina

Nadgledanje glasanja tokom predstojećih lokalnih izbora u Bosni i Hercegovini

Introducing the Candidates Running for Mayorships and City Council Seats

The list of the Platform for Progress candidates who will be running for office in the local elections on November 15th has been finalized.  With some three weeks before the official campaign period begins the Platform is now taking the opportunity, primarily through social media, to introduce the candidates to the citizens of the cities, towns and municipalities where they will be running for office.  I had the opportunity to speak with Mirsad Hadzikadic, the president of the Platform for Progress, in person for the first time in several months as he is in Charlotte, North Carolina for a few weeks for meetings at the university and to visit with family, friends and colleagues.

The Political Climate and Media Blockade Continue to Pose Challenges for the Platform for Progress

The political landscape and ongoing media blockade of the Platform for Progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to pose challenges.  Mirsad Hadzikadič, the president of the Platform, and I recently spoke at length about, why, in his words, things continue to remain status quo as they have for so many years.  He shared his thoughts on why, how to strategically address these challenges, and at the same time not be swayed off course in their efforts to bring about change and reform to the country.

Zenica Was the Site of the Seventh Peaceful Protest March Held by the Platform for Progress

On Saturday, August 29th, Zenica was the site of the seventh peaceful protest march coordinated by the Platform for Progress.  Zenica, the fourth largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina his located some 60 miles north of Sarajevo.  During my recent conversation with Mirsad Hadzikadić, president of the Platform, we talked about the success of the march, particularly in light of all of the regulations that are in place due to COVID-19.  He also took a moment to reflect on how this event as well as others of recent are true indicators of the growth of the Platform in just two short years.
