Lejla Hadzikadic Gusic, 41, is the eldest of Mirsad and Mirzeta’s two children. She resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband Said. Lejla is a physician at the Levine Cancer Institute at Atrium Health specializing in Breast Surgical Oncology. Her husband Said is a Cyber Security Engineer at Atrium Health. They also have two young sons, Tarik and Isak. Lejla and Said were of course at the family dinner back in November of 2017 when Mirsad announced his intention of running for president of Bosnia and Herzegovina. For Lejla the news left her conflicted. She was and remains totally supportive of what her father is trying to do in his native country, but is also extremely cautious about this new journey her father has embarked upon as it has fueled emotions that run high for her. We sat down and spoke about her initial reaction to the news

Četrdesetjednogodišnja Lejla Hadžikadić Gušić je Mirsadova i Mirzetina starija kćerka, od ukupno dvoje njihove djece. Živi u Charlotteu, u Sjevernoj Karolini, sa suprugom Saidom. Lejla je ljekarka Instituta Levine Cancer at Atrium Health, sa specijalizacijom u hirurškoj onkologiji dojke. Njen suprug Said je inženjer kibersigurnosti u Atrium Health-u. Imaju dva sina, Tarika i Isaka. Lejla i Said su naravno bili na porodičnoj večeri još u novembru 2017. godine, kad je Mirsad najavio svoju namjeru da se kandiduje za predsjednika Bosne i Hercegovine. Ta vijest je u Lejli pobudila konfliktna osjećanja. Pružala je, te i dalje pruža, punu podršku onome što njen otac pokušava da uradi u svojoj rodnoj zemlji, ali je takođe vrlo oprezna u vezi s tim novim putovanjem na koje se uputio njen otac, jer je ono potaklo snažne emocije u njoj. Sjeli smo i razgovarali o njenoj prvobitnoj reakciji na ovu vijest.
