A winner has yet to be declared following the presidential elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 2nd. Though there seems to be no question as to who the eventual winners will be, the results are not final. In the meantime the Platform for Progress continues to reassess its disappointing showing and has begun the process of restricting the party. . I recently spoke with the president of the Platform for Progress Mirsad Hadžikadić about the current strategies for moving forward and preparing for the local elections in 2024.

It’s been nearly two weeks since the general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There have been allegations of widespread fraud throughout the country, ballots are being recounted, and the winners have yet to be declared. For Mirsad Hadžikadić, the final results will in no way impact the outcome for him. So it is now a time for the Platform for Progress to take a hard long look at the results, reevaluate the campaign, and determine what changes are needed moving forward. Hadžikadić shared with me what is currently being done to try and set the future course for the Platform and The Country coalition.

For Mirsad Hadžikadić and the Platform for Progress, the message of hope and change for Bosnia and Herzegovina has once again been rejected by the electorate. The realistic hope wasn’t that he would win, but that he would at least better his 2018 results in which he received an unprecedented 10 percent of the vote. Such was not the case on October 2, 2022, as voters handily said no to the last four years which saw a democratic movement being built from the ground up. On Sunday, October 2nd, Bosnians will again head to the polls to elect a new president. The last month has meant many long and tireless days for presidential candidate Mirsad Hadžikadić. He has been canvassing the country, sometimes two to three cities and towns per day, meeting with the people and once again sharing his message of hope and change for the country. During these last four weeks, Hadžikadić has also appeared in five presidential debates, which were quite interesting. With the general elections just over two months away in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the final candidate lists are being submitted to the Bosnian Central Electoral Commission. The commission will then determine how all of the candidates’ names will appear on the ballot for the October election. The president of the Platform for Progress, Mirsad Hakžikadić, says just by the luck of the draw, it appears his name will be first among the candidates running for the Bosniak Presidential Council seat. Such was the case back in 2018 as well. Hadžikadić spoke with me about how the overall campaign is shaping up. He also shared his thoughts about another recent memorial service held to pay respect to those who lost their lives in the 1995 genocide.
